Rare Ramayama Hand Carved Bone Figural Chess Set Complete Super Nice

It has been in storage, ever since. The flaw, with the chess set, is that one on the white pawns, has been broken, at his legs. Using jewler's loups, and quick drying epoxy, the chess piece, has been repaired, and is very happy, among the others. One of the white pawns was missing, so I cast numerous pieces. I spent hours, on each piece, making sure, they were all identical, to their brothers. The color is identical, the figure is almost identical, because, a variety of craftsmen, made the originals, so, all are a bit different. Lastly, the weight is identical. I will include, a few extra white pawns, in case another breaks, or you find a flaw, with any of the pawns. The India Ramayama chess set, is the most desirable, and rarest, of the India figural chess sets. This set, because, it is all white, is among the more desirable. The sizes of the pieces are. The king measures 1 1/2 tall. The queen measures 1 1/4 tall. The bishop is 1 tall. The knight is 1 tall. The rook is 1 tall. The pawns are 5/8 tall. I have used the known termanology, ie, the names of the chess pieces. In India folklore, each piece, has its own name.

It is a story, about the good king, about to marry, when the evil king, kidnaps the girl. It is a very lengthy book, and a difficult read, but, it gives the background, of the Ramayama chess set. In taking pictures, of the chess board, I put all of the chess pieces, in a small box. Upon completion of the photography, I put the pawns, in their slots, and I could not find, the replacement, or the glued piece. I have already scrubbed the chess board, with a special wood cleaner.

I then put a coat of sealer on, to protect the inlays, and protect the wood. The surface is so nice, you can see your reflection, on the chess board. I don't know the type of wood that was used, but there is a lot of figural grain, running thru the wood. This chess set, comes from a smoke free home, a pet free home, a child free home, and no children come to visit. It is also an alcohol free home, as both my brother and I are retired, and on a variety of prescription medications.

PLEASE NOTE: The last photo, shows the bottom, of one of the chess pieces. These concentric rings, are common, on half the chess pieces. But most of the pieces, will only have, 1, 2, or 3 rings. In studying this, on the internet, there is a strong possibility, that these chess pieces are ivory.
