In 1935 only, the trim plates remained brass and the couplers remained the latch-type. These cars are often referred to by collectors as transition cars. The 260e locomotive comes in dark gunmetal with black wheels, nickel trim, and a chugger. The 260T tender is also dark gunmetal with nickel railings and copper journal boxes- no whistle. The 812 gondola has nickel brakewheels and journal boxes, but brass plates on the sides. It comes with the 812T Tool Kit as well as 4 wooden barrels. The 810 crane has brass, NOT nickel plates on the cab. The 820 floodlight car comes with a darker shade of green paint than is found on later cars. The 817 caboose has nickel end railings and window frames, BUT brass number and nameplates on the sides. Individual boxes have all their end-flaps attached and the engine and crane car boxes come with original cardboard liners. Also included in the engine box is a 390-76 flag envelope. Finally there is a 95 rheostat in the box and a 1935 Instruction and Operating Manual. All of these plus the 277W set box. A truly unique set for the serious collector! Only issues I see are: the tender box is stamped black, not GM; the gondola has top edge wear, and the caboose has a small roof dent.
